Board members from Windsor’s two hospitals have approved a transitional realignment plan to exchange duties between Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital.
The move is seen as an important step to build a new acute care institution, more commonly known as the mega hospital.
It’s scheduled to take effect on Oct. 1.
That’s when Windsor Regional will be responsible for the governance and management of programs and services on existing metropolitan and Ouellette campuses, what is now Hotel-Dieu Grace.
Hotel-Dieu will be responsible for the management of programs and services on the west end Tayfour Campus and off-site programs associated with the Tayfour Campus.
The crisis program will continue to be governed and managed by Hotel-Dieu.
Despite the changes, hospital managers say programs and services are not changing locations which patients will continue to access after Oct.1.
