Windsor Fire and Rescue Services officials want you to know they do not ask for donations over the phone or door to door.
A concerned citizen called fire dispatch Monday night. The person reported that someone had called their home asking for a donation for Sparky's Toy Drive and wanted a credit card number.
Officials hope anyone who receives a call like this will report it to them and Windsor police.
"For someone to go solicit funds in a criminal manner, not only from the fire department, but a number of other excellent causes in our community, it's something that is disturbing," says chief fire prevention officer Lee Tome.
