A Windsor filmmaker has won a prestigious award for a recent short film.
The National Screen Institute has awarded Windsor's Theodore Bezaire the A&E Filmmakers Award for his short film, Tommy.
In the film, a young boy and a man go out to the countryside to lay the boy's pet turtle, Tommy, to rest, but when they reach their destination things don't go as planned.
“The joy of life ran through this virtually flawless short film,” says Maureen Levitt, NSI jury member. “On one level Tommy was so simple yet on another level so complex. It truly warmed my heart.”
Bezaire was happy about his win.
“Tommy is a story inspired by personal events, so to see it connecting with others makes me feel great,” he says. “We're very proud of our work on the film and it's truly an honour to receive this award”.
The film was supported through CTV’s Bravo! fact program.
Bezaire wrapped up filming his second feature film, The Birder, in Windsor this past summer.
