The average house price in Windsor-Essex is expected to increase, according to a report released by Remax.

The 2017 Housing Market Outlook Report, summarizes 2016 national prices and sales activity and provides a 2017 forecast for 28 regions in Canada, including Windsor-Essex.

The report says the average price is expected to increase 5 per cent in 2017.

Buyers from the GTA and retirees are attracted by Windsor’s relatively low cost of living, residential real estate affordability and economic climate.

The 2016 findings include average residential sale price in Windsor is $226,468, a 13 per cent increase.

Demand was strongest this year for single-family detached homes in the $140,000 to $300,000 range.

There have also been 34 sales of homes worth more than $1-million.

ReMax Realtor Glen Muir feels there is a lot of "optimism" in the Windsor Essex market, thanks to a stabilized employment rate and millions of dollars in new auto investment.
