About 5,000 Windsor Assembly Plant workers are back on the job today after a 13-week layoff.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles needed the time to retool for the next generation minivan. Chrysler invested $2 billion in the project.

FCA spokesperson Lou Ann Gosselin says the retooling project is still wrapping up.

“Employees (roughly 5,000) are in the plant this week for work station verification, training, system fill etc. in preparation for the start of production,” said Gosselin in an email to CTV Windsor.

About 1800 electricians, plumbers, carpenters, ironworkers, millwrights and others have been retooling the plant since February.

Full production is scheduled to resume May 25.
