Natural Resources Canada says the wildland fire danger risk for the Windsor-Essex region will hit the extreme mark by Monday.

The fire danger risk is a relative index of how easy it is to ignite vegetation, how difficult a fire may be to control and how much damage a fire may do.

In the case of an extreme alert, fast-spreading, high intensity fires would be expected in the event of a vegetation or forest fire.
