A 30-year-old Wheatley woman was arrested and charged after Chatham-Kent police say an argument escalated with a female relative.
It started within their residence in Wheatley on July 17 around 1 p.m.
Police say the argument escalated and the woman threatened her relative. After being threatened, the relative made several attempts to leave the residence. Each time, the woman prevented her from leaving.
Around 6 p.m., the relative entered the kitchen and saw glassware smashed all over the floor. The value is estimated at less than $5,000.
On Wednesday at 3 p.m., the relative returned to her residence and saw that the kitchen cupboards had now been emptied and shattered all over the floor. The value is estimated at less than $5000.
This time, the police were called and notified of all the incidents.
When the officer arrived, the woman allegedly exited the house through a window in an attempt to evade police. Due to her whereabouts being unknown once she left, a warrant for her arrest was issued.
On Thursday at 11:30 a.m., the woman was arrested and charged with uttering threats, forcible confinement and mischief under $5000.
She was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and then to the Court House for a bail hearing.
