Lambton Conveyor Ltd. will expand its grain handling and storage equipment manufacturing operations thanks to funding from the federal government.
The project is expected to maintain 110 jobs and create up to 150 new jobs by 2015 in the Chatham-Kent area.
“Sixty per cent of our business is in the U.S., 10 per cent is in Canada and the rest is around the world,” says Chris Moorhouse, president of Lambton Conveyors.
The company will receive $3.1 million from FedDev Ontario's Prosperity Initiative to consolidate plants in Bothwell, Ont., and Florence, Ont., into to one larger facility in Wallaceburg.
Lambton Conveyor has been serving the grain storage and handling, food processing and feed manufacturing industries since 1965.
The investment was announced Thursday by Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Bev Shipley.
"Our government's top priority is creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians," says Shipley. "This funding will allow Lambton Conveyor Limited to expand its facilities, invest in new equipment, and diversify the manufacturing base in the Chatham-Kent area."
