Unifor National President visits Windsor amid Clear Medical Imaging Strike

Unifor’s National President Lana Payne made a visit to Windsor on Thursday, visiting those on strike at Clear Medical Imaging.

It’s been 48 days since the strike began and Payne aimed to raise spirits of the striking staff.

Payne described the 48 days as “a tough road” for employees who are backing contract demands.

“I believe if I was the employer right now, I take this as a very strong message,” said Payne.

“This is a cohesive, solid group. They are supporting each other and coming to the table and bargaining a fair collective agreement. I can’t predict what’s going to happen, obviously, but what I would say is that the workers have sent a very clear message that they’re together.”

Around 130 employees from Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent unionized recently. Last week, the company presented its “final offer”, which 96 per cent of workers rejected.

According to Payne, the union and Clear Medical Imaging are set to return to the bargaining table Friday as workers continue to bare the cold.
