WINDSOR, ONT. -- The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has added two Windsor restaurants and a Leamington credit union to the list of Potential Public Exposures for COVID-19.

The latest additions are Spago restaurant at 3850 Dougall Ave., The Chelsea at 576 Ouellette Ave. and Kindred Credit Union at 243 Erie St S. in Leamington.

WECHU says the potential exposure dates for Spago’s south location are Sept. 6, 9 and 10.

For The Chelsea, the date is Sept. 6 and for the Kindred the dates are Sept. 3 - Sept. 4.

There are six businesses currently on the list. The health unit removes the locations 14 days after the last exposure date.

The health unit’s website lists public locations where a person with a positive case of COVID-19 worked, visited, or attended during their infectious period when it is determined there has been a risk of exposure and the health unit is unable to contact everyone who may have been exposed.

WECHU says the potential exposures listed on its page are considered “low risk” however as a precaution they say anyone who visited the listed locations should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days from the date of exposure.

CTV Windsor has reached out to the businesses for comment.

The Chelsea Management Group emailed a statement to CTV News.

“We have very strict policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of our team and also our guests,” said the statement. “This alleged potential exposure was over the Sunday of the long weekend where we had our extended patios and the benefit of open air. We also had minimal staff working as it was a Sunday.”

The Chelsea management added their entire team is all symptom free.

“We are proud to say we join the efforts of other world class organizations named like Spago and Ciociaro Club in doing our utmost to protect our teams and community,” said Chelsea management. “Actually, we applaud all restaurants and small businesses that are dedicating their time and resources to fighting COVID. It's not easy and there is not a lot of support out there for small restaurants. Let us all continue to do our best and take all the precautions possible to avoid the spread.”

The restaurant said they have recently initiated temp checks by managers for guests as they arrive.

"This is above and beyond all other containment measures we have in place. We feel other restaurants and bars should also deploy this initiative as we combat this virus.”

The Chelsea is open at 4 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.

In a statement emailed to CTV News, Kindred Credit Union said a staff member at the Leamington branch or someone in the staff member’s family or social bubble has a confirmed case of COVID-19. The dates of exposure were before the individual was symptomatic.

“We’re thankful to report that the individual is doing well and will be able to re-integrate into the community following a 14-day period of self-isolation,” the statement read.

“Upon being notified of the positive case, Kindred immediately enacted its plan to ensure the ongoing safety of Kindred staff, members, and our community, including informing and reaching out to members who were in the branch on September 3 and 4. Kindred confirmed with WECHU that because of the enhanced health and safety measures we continue to employ, the branch is safe to remain open. In late August, the branch received a positive inspection report from a Town of Leamington By-Law Officer.

Kindred Credit Union officials said while the WECHU has confirmed the potential exposure risk to be low, the credit union is encouraging those who visited the branch on the listed dates to follow the health unit’s guidelines in terms of self-monitoring.
