A Mississauga truck driver has been charged with careless driving after a tractor trailer flipped in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Harwich Road Tuesday night.

Chatham-Kent OPP say it happened about 11:30 p.m. and caused the highway to be closed for several hours.

Amjad Mohammad, 37, was taken to hospital with minor injuries and released.

Nobody else was injured.

A Scarborough man is also facing a careless driving charged following a two-vehicle collison on Highway 401 near Victoria Road in Chatham-Kent.

Police said an eastbound Freightliner truck struck the rear of another tractor trailer about 6 p.m.

The driver of the Freightliner pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway and the tractor portion of the Freightliner caught fire. 

Due to damage caused by the fire, the right lane of the highway was closed for several hours to allow for emergency road repair. 

The male driver of the Freightliner, 25-year-old Abobaker Sham has been charged.
