A new mental health facility is opening downtown Windsor.

The Transitional Stability Centre operated by Hôtel‐Dieu Grace Healthcare will help people with acute mental health or substance use episodes.

During phase one, the TSC will provide day services and support for men and women ages 18 to

65 years who do not require hospitalization or hospital treatment.

Officials hope it will help divert unnecessary visits to the emergency room.

The facility on Ouellette Avenue is not a detox centre, shelter or long-term residential program.

Phase two will include a 25 to 50 bed component witch will provide a three to five week symptom stabilization program.
