A tractor trailer driver has died and another person was hurt after a two-vehicle crash in Comber.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 77 and Lakeshore Road 310 around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
Police say a tractor trailer unit carrying rolls of steel collided with a passenger vehicle at the intersection.
“Upon arriving at the scene, we can confirm that one party has been declared deceased and that we have a second party that has been transferred to hospital with life-threatening injuries,” said OPP Const. Jim Root.
The lone occupant driver of the tractor trailer was pronounced dead at the scene and the lone occupant driver of the white Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A large plume of black smoke could be seen rising from a transport truck involved in the collision.
Highway 77 is closed between Lakeshore Road 309 and Lakeshore Road 311. Police expect it to reopen around 6 p.m.
