The world's largest rubber duck has started its six-stop Ontario tour that will make its way to Amherstburg in August.

The six-storey-tall, 13,600-kilogram yellow duck was inflated on Toronto's harbourfront Friday morning ahead of the weekend RedPath Waterfront Festival.

It’s part of the "Ontario 150 Tour" presented by Redpath Sugar, a multi-cultural lineup of waterfront entertainment coming to six Ontario destinations this summer.

The rubber duck is a copy of Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman's Rubber Duck sculpture. The replica, at 161 feet tall, 79 feet wide and 89 feet long, is making its first ever trip to Canada. Its arrival is made possible through the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport and its “Celebrate Ontario” program.

The duck is stopping in Owen Sound July 7-9, before heading to Sault Ste. Marie, Midland, Amherstburg and Brockville.

It will be at the Raiders, Rebels and Redcoats event in Amherstburg Aug. 5-6.
