A timeline of events for the new single-site acute care hospital in Windsor.

-April 2012 - Then Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Dwight Duncan started the ball rolling when he announced the need to start talking about the future of hospital needs.

-October 2012 - A task force found there was a need for a new single-site acute care hospital.

-February 2013 - Plans were announced to realign services between Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital.

-October 2013 - The realignment was implemented.

-May 2014 - A site selection committee was assembled for the new mega hospital.

-March 2015 - A list of possible locations was narrowed down to five sites.

-July 2015 - A recommended site has been selected, but final approval is still needed from the province.

-The new hospital could be open as early as in 2022.
