A tentative deal has been reached with University of Windsor workers, just a mere day before a strike deadline.

The proposed agreement was reached after two days of bargaining with a mediator.

A ratification vote is scheduled for Sunday.

The deal avoids a midnight deadline that would allow a legal strike or lockout.

The school says Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) 1001 represents 118 full-time and 202 part-time housekeeping, grounds, maintenance and food services staff.

Meanwhile, nearly 300 other CUPE Local 1393 workers remain on strike.

Classes will go on as scheduled.
