Windsor police say a 13-year-old girl has been sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries after getting hit by a pickup truck at Tecumseh Road West and Dougall Avenue Wednesday morning.
The intersection was closed for several hours for accident reconstruction.
The girl was rushed to a hospital in London.
Meaghan Shephard works at the Tim Hortons at the corner of Dougall and Tecumseh.
"From 7 a.m. to usually about now (12p.m.), it's non-stop traffic,” says Shepard. “Commutes to work, school, the buses - it's crazy. Our drive thru is always packed."
She says the victim is a friend of her niece from Queen Victoria Public School.
"It's one of her friends, so she's going to be going through a lot as well as the students at her school ,” says Shepard . “I know they have grief counselors already over there."
Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information can call (519) 258-611.
