About $500,000 in upgrades to the baseball diamond at Lacasse Park are almost complete.
The money went towards $350,000 for the lights and the rest was for the fence and warning track.
“I think the improvements mean a lot to the team and community,” says Tecumseh Baseball Club president Jamie Kell. “The park is recognized province wide. The improvements will put us in the upper echelon for diamonds.”
The province gave a $166,000 grant for the project. The Town of Tecumseh contributed $250,000, and club raised $85,000.
Keel says the diamond needed many improvements.
“There was no warning track before,” he says. “The lights were from 1965, so they were in dire need of new ones.”
He says the work started in March and should be complete next week.
