A Toronto teacher is facing charges after Chatham-Kent OPP officers pulled him over travelling 146 kilometres an hour with 12 students in the vehicle.

Police stopped the white Chevrolet passenger van travelling on the 401 Highway westbound, near Merlin Town Line at 11:36 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say the Paul Melnik, 44, a teacher at Father Henry Carr Secondary School, was taking the students to a basketball tournament in Windsor.

He has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with an improper class of licence and speeding 146 km/hour in a 100 km/hour zone.
