A 20-year-old Scarborough man has been charged after a car crashed into a Windsor laundromat.
Windsor police were dispatched to 1705 Campbell Ave on Friday at 11 p.m. for a vehicle that had driven into the Campbell Laundry Shop.
Damage to the vehicle and building are estimated to be about $60,000.
Witnesses told officers that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. EMS were on scene treating the passenger of the vehicle for her injuries. She was taken to hospital.
The 18-year-old female passenger needed seven staples to close a wound to her head.
A 2003 Ford Focus was lodged into the north wall of the business. Police say investigation revealed that the vehicle was travelling at a "high rate of speed" south on Campbell Avenue.
The vehicle lost control as it crossed the railway tracks and crashed into the business located at the Southwest corner of College Avenue and Campbell Avenue.
Officer believe the driver may have been coming from a house party at a residence in the 800 block of Partington Avenue. Police went to the residence and found the suspect driver.
Police say he had blood on his left hand and later complained of a sore left hip. He identified as being the registered owner of the 2003 Ford Focus.
The 20-year-old Scarborough man was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.
He was released on a promise to appear in court in June.
