Windsor police has released surveillance video of a man chasing down an accused thief.
The incident took place Monday around 9:15 a.m. in the 900 block of Elsmere Avenue. Police say a woman was dropped off outside her home after picking up prescription drugs from the pharmacy, when a male suspect approached the woman and asked to use her cell phone.
The suspect then allegedly grabbed the backpack and a struggle ensued. As a result, the bag broke open and the suspect grabbed the drugs. The driver who dropped off the woman heard her screaming, exited the vehicle and chased the suspect.
The surveillance video captures the chase as it happens. The witness almost stopped the suspect, but slipped well entering a turn.
A white panel van was observed driving in the area; it’s unclear if it’s involved.
The suspect is described as a 20 to 30-year-old white male, standing 6’ 7”, 178 lbs with a skinny build and short hair. He was last seen wearing a beige jacket, grey hoodie and blue jeans.
