The strike continues for more than 80 nurses at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

The Ontario Nurses Association says it members have rejected a tentative agreement.

ONA Local 8 spokesperson Barb Deter would not release how many nurses voted against the agreement on Tuesday. Deter also would not release the details of the tentative deal.

Deter tells CTV Windsor they have asked the health unit and the provincial mediator to return to the bargaining table, but there are no new dates for negotiations.

“We are disappointed that this strike will continue, and that our dedicated nurses are not yet able to go back to doing what they care so deeply about – working to ensure the health and well-being of their communities,” added Ontario Nurses’ Association president Vicki McKenna in a news release.

A tentative deal was reached Monday night.

Health unit officials tell CTV News they will not comment at this time.

The nurses were off of the picket line on Tuesday, but Deter says they will return to picket duties on Wednesday and they will continue to organize events to support their community, such as a diaper drive and a community blood drive.

The 86 nurse practitioners, registered practical nurses and public health nurses went on strike on March 8 to back demands for more money.

The nurses were working without a contract since March 31, 2018.
