Some parts of Essex County were hit by strong winds and lightning as a storm rolled through southwestern Ontario.

Kingsville appears to have suffered the most damage. McCain Side Road residents said they were still without power Tuesday morning and trees were down due to gusting winds.

Power was knocked out for over 1,000 Hydro One customers in Kingsville Tuesday morning and over 1,600 didn’t have power in Wheatley.

In Leamington, fire officials say lightning struck a barn at 2329 Deer Run Road around 5 a.m. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
