A 29-year-old Windsor man is facing charges after a brief standoff at a Windsor motel on Thursday evening.

Around 6 p.m. officers were called to the Towne and Country Motel in the 2800 block of Howard Ave. for reports of a possible stolen vehicle.

Officers allege that they found stolen licence plates and while they were investigating, a man approached and asked about the investigation into his vehicle.

Police say when the officers attempted to arrest the man, he began running away and said that he had a firearm, before going into a room and closing the door.

Additional officers were called in and contact was made, and the male was arrested without incident.

As a result, Jacob Brode, 29, is charged with possession of stolen property and escape lawful custody of a peace officer.
