The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police is offering police K9 calendars and stuffed “Hero Dogs” to help raise money for Special Olympics.

The calendars feature police dogs from the OPP, Windsor Police Service, Canadian Border Services Agency, Chatham Police Service and Sarnia Police Service. Hero Dogs are small stuffed German Shepherds that the OPP hopes will find their way into stockings this year.

Over the past 40 years, Special Olympics has grown from a small program to become the world’s largest movement dedicated to promoting respect, acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities through sports. OPP detachments across the province are involved in numerous fundraiser to support athletes in their communities.

Both the Hero dogs and calendars can be purchased at any OPP Detachment in Essex County for $15 each.
