CTV Windsor has more information on the murder of a pregnant woman on Benjamin Avenue.

Several sources have confirmed the identity of the victim as Cassandra Kaake, 31.

She was seven months pregnant.

"I only see her once in a while getting in her car to go to work, that's about it," says Don Puzzuti, who has lived across the crime scene for 35 years.

Emergency crews were called to the house early Thursday morning for a report of a fire.

Inside, they found a body and later police determined her death as a homicide.

Police say it is unknown if the victim and the attacker knew one another.

The news has residents on Benjamin Ave. on edge.

"It means there could be a madman running around the neighbourhood," says resident Darren Bulner.

Police have not made any arrests or a suspect description.

Police say Kaake was working for a local parts supply company at the time of untimely demise. Kaake's Facebook profile states she was born in Lasalle and attended Sandwich Secondary School.

Neighbours say Kaake owned a dog, that is now in the hands of the Humane Society.

Her body is in London for a post mortem examination.

The results have not been released.
