Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit is probing Essex County provincial police after an alleged drunk driver was sent to hospital.
Police responded to a personal injury crash on County Road 46 west of Sexton Side Road at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday morning.
A 57-year-old man from Woodslee was operating a motor vehicle when it ran off the road and struck a culvert, say police.
Officers say while attempting to arrest the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, he resisted and had to be restrained.
He was transported to an area hospital where was treated for his injuries.
An OPP investigation into the collision is also underway.
