Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has cleared an Amherstburg police officer of any wrong doing after an incident last September.

Amherstburg police responded to a house fire on Richmond Street in September 2012.

SIU spokeswoman Monica Hudon says police officers and firefighters were clearing the scene after a house fire that killed two people. She says an officer was attempting to clear the way for an ambulance when a man had to be removed.

“A man was blocking the way and refused to move,” says Hudon.

She says the officer had to use some force to move the man and he suffered a back injury.

SIU investigators were contacted in March to look into the incident. They determined there were no grounds to believe the officer committed an offence.
