Sexual assault charges against a Buddhist monk in Windsor have been stayed.

Then Phan was charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference and one count of an indecent act in July of last year.

Windsor police investigated after a family of a child reported that the monk at the Khemara Buddhist Temple sexually assaulted their child on multiple occasions about three years ago, when she was 6 years old.

Charges were stayed during court proceedings on May 19, and a publication ban remains in place.

The crown has one year to reinstate the charges.
