It’s the home stretch for construction on the Herb Gray Parkway.

The Ministry of Transportation says we are days away from a section of the parkway being open to traffic.

Garfield Dales, Windsor Border Initiatives Implementation Group director, says the parkway will open from Highway 401 to the EC Row Expressway in a few days. No specific date and time has been released.

Construction began on the $1.4-billion project in August of 2011. Full completion expected later this year.

The portion of the parkway between Huron Church Road and Ojibway Parkway will connect to the bridge and will not be operational until the bridge opens.

The ultimate goal of the parkway is to connect the 401 to the new Gordie Howe International Bridge.
