CHATHAM, Ont. -- Police say a retired violin teacher is facing more than 60 sex-related counts in an investigation involving more than 20 girls.

Chatham-Kent police initially charged the 70-year-old retired strings teacher last October with 17 counts.

Police say the Chatham, Ont., man was charged with 10 counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual exploitation dating back to the early 1980s.

Police says he was charged Friday with 45 additional sex-related offences as a result of 19 new alleged victims coming forward.

The offences include sexual assault, sexual interference, sexual exploitation and indecent assault on a female.

Police say the accused was self-employed as a strings teacher, teaching primarily violin and viola, for more than 50 years in Chatham.
