We are less than two weeks away from a civic election in Regina, but according to a new poll, the race may already be over.

According to the poll by Mainstreet/Postmedia, Mayor Michael Fougere is leading the race with the support of 41 per cent of all voters.

The rest of the candidates are in a virtual tie, with Tony Fiacco and Wayne Ast coming in at four per cent each.

Jim Elliot and Evangeline Godron are at two per cent.

The poll also found that 46 per cent of all voters are undecided. When you factor in just decided voters, Fougere has a commanding 73 per cent support.

A similar poll done in late August showed Fougere with 51 per cent of decided voters in his corner. His support seems to be on the rise.

With nearly half of all Regina residents are undecided voter apathy appears to be an issue. The poll even goes as far as to say, "Our suspicion is few are aware an election is taking place at all."

When asked what level of government affects them most, 34 per cent answered municipal and 30 per cent said provincial. Yet interest is still highest in federal politics. 42 per cent of respondents pay attention to decisions made in Ottawa. 13 per cent say they follow civic issues.

The Mainstreet poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.99 per cent, 19 times out of 20. 603 Regina residents were polled by phone.
