“Al the Octopus” is moving to a new home.
The unofficial mascot of the Detroit Red Wings sold at auction on Saturday for $7,700.
It had been hanging at Joe Louis Arena, the former home of the NHL team.
“Al” and other memorabilia from the Joe and the Red Wings were auctioned off since the team and Olympia Entertainment have to vacate the arena by the end of the year.
Also of note, the wall mural of the 1997 Stanley Cup Champions fetched about $4,100.
The Red Wings started this season in a new home, at Little Caesers Arena.
