St. Alphonsus church in Windsor now has $120,000 towards renovations thanks to a donation from the Quesnel Family Foundation.

On Wednesday the Diocese of London announced the donation to St. Alphonsus to help with building restoration.

A 5-year fundraising campaign was launched in 2011 to raise $500,000 to advance the church’s ongoing restoration project, which began in 2000.

In a release pastor of St. Alphonsus said, “This generous gift will help to bring our fundraising campaign to a successful conclusion, and we look forward to having this construction completed by summer 2017.”

St. Alphonsus, founded in 1865, is located in downtown Windsor, and is a part of the Diocese of London. The current church building was erected in 1871.

“St. Alphonsus has played a significant role in the growth and evolution of our Catholic community in the Windsor region. I am delighted to play a part in ensuring the continued preservation of this historic church,” said Alan Quesnel, founder of the Quesnel Family Foundation.
