Windsor police say a 38-year-old man was taken to hospital with severe bruising and swelling to his head after a break-in on Grand Marais Road.

Officers were sent to a house in the 4500 block of Grand Marais Road East on Monday at 11:20 a.m. A woman told police she found her boyfriend at the residence unconscious and bleeding from the head.

When police got there, paramedics and firefighters were tending to the victim. He was transported by ambulance to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The front pedestrian door to the residence had been forced open, according to police. It is not clear what, if anything, was taken.

Detectives were hoping to speak to the victim at hospital Tuesday to find out what transpired.
