Two men are facing alcohol-related charges after police say they were having trouble docking a boat at a marina in Lakeshore.

It happened at the Deerbrook Marina at 1023 Essex County Road 2 on Sunday at about 8:50 p.m. Lakeshore OPP officers were dispatched for a report of a boat that was being operated by a group of drunk men.

Officers say they saw a 16-foot Aquarian watercraft approaching with four men on board. Police instructed the operator to drive the vessel to the dock. After some difficulty in bringing the watercraft to the dock, a second man on board took the controls and steered it to the dock, according to police.

Both men allegedly showed signs of impairment once on shore and were arrested.

Scott Macdonald, 35, of Thamesville has been charged with impaired operation of a vessel and exceeding 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content as well as operating a pleasure craft without the prescribed competency.

Jeremy Koning, 32, of Lakeshore has been charged with exceeding 80 mgs of blood alcohol content and allowing a person to operate a pleasure craft without the prescribed competency.

Both men will appear in a Windsor court on August 14, 2013.

Three other Essex County men are also facing impaired driving charges after incidents over the past several days.

The first incident was on Thursday. Officers on patrol saw a black Jeep Cherokee pulling a utility trailer northbound on Dougall Avenue near Cabana in Windsor. Police say the vehicle was swerving back and forth across both lanes and at one point caused the trailer to go up onto the curb.

Gerald Klotz, 40, from Essex was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, exceeding 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content, and breach of probation. Police say alcohol was found inside the vehicle.

The second case was on Sunday 1:30 a.m. Lakeshore OPP officers stopped a black Dodge Ram pickup truck on Essex County Road 22 at Essex County Road 19, for travelling 52 kilometres over the posted speed limit.

Stavros Karatzias, 48, was arrested and charged with racing a motor vehicle and exceeding 80 mgs of blood alcohol content.

On Sunday at 3:25 p.m., OPP officers arrested a 39-year-old Lakeshore man after a reports of red GMC Sierra pickup truck which nearly struck a motorcycle in Lakeshore.

Jason Cooper of Lakeshore has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and exceeding 80 mgs of blood alcohol content.
