Windsor police have arrested a new suspect and released the previous suspect after an Islamic-themed graffiti spree downtown.
On Dec. 13 around 7 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Wyandotte Street and Ouellette Avenue for a report of several bus shelters being vandalized with spray-painted messages.
Police continued to investigate after the arrest of a 52-year-old man on Friday, Dec. 15.
Further investigation led officers to believe that the man in custody was not responsible for the crime, and he was released without any charges.
Police say the investigation identified another man believed to be responsible for the property damage.
On Saturday around 12:50 p.m., the suspect male was located and arrested in the 900 block of Ouellette Avenue without incident.
George Donaldson, 49, from Windsor, is charged with 16 counts of mischief (property damage).
