Windsor police are asking for the public’s help finding the driver who allegedly hit an 87-year-old woman walking across a Tim Hortons driveway in Windsor.

A person of interest has been identified, but police are seeking more witnesses.

It took place June 5 just before 10:45 a.m. in the 2800 block of Howard Avenue.

A male driver of a red pick-up truck was exiting the driveway of Tim Hortons attempting to turn North onto Howard Avenue. He checked for southbound traffic, but not northbound traffic, say police.

Police say he pulled his vehicle forward and struck an 87-year-old woman who was walking with her walker. The collision knocked her to the ground and she later required surgery to repair her left elbow.

The driver got out of his truck and spoke briefly with a witness, who was helping the victim. The driver indicated that he was going to move his vehicle "out of the way."

Officers were told the driver returned to his truck and left the scene of the accident.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident can call Windsor police at (519)-255-6700 ext 4211 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (519)-258-TIPS (8477).
