Windsor police have released the identity of the man arrested following a lengthy standoff on Pierre Avenue.

Gerald Maxwell Halliday, 34, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault cause bodily harm and forcible confinement.

An investigation has revealed that the 32-year-old victim attended a duplex in the 600 block of Pierre Avenue around 9 a.m. to see the suspect. After knocking on the door, police say Halliday pulled the victim inside – pulling her hair and punching her several times in the head.

Officers say the victim was eventually able to flee, that’s when someone notified police. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Several staples were required to close a cut to her head.

Members of the emergency services unit surrounded the duplex for several hours, before Halliday surrender to police.
