Two people are charged after police seized thousands of dollars’ worth of drugs from a downtown Windsor hotel.

On Tuesday, the Windsor Police Drugs and Guns Unit issued a search warrant at a downtown hotel room, around 4:20 p.m. Once inside, police arrested a male and female within the room.

Police say a search of the room led to the discovery of fentanyl patches, cocaine, oxycodone pills and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. The estimated value of the drugs is set at $29, 390.

John Yousif Yakoop, 34, is charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking and fail to comply with condition of judicial release.

Rebecca Michelle Escobar, 19, is charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking and fail to comply with condition of undertaking to officer.

The investigation is ongoing.
