A hot pink Windsor fire truck is part of this month’s campaign to fight breast cancer.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services and the Canadian Cancer Society’s Essex County Unit revealed the pink vehicle at Devonshire Mall on Thursday.

The truck will be on display at the mall until Saturday as part of Fire Prevention Week. For a donation in the pink fire boot, citizens can sign the pink truck in memory of a loved one or current cancer survivor.

“Firefighters know a lot about cancer risk, losing many colleagues to this disease,” says Judy Lund, Canadian Cancer Society Windsor-Essex community office manager. “But they also know how to fight back. We are thrilled to have the Windsor Fire & Rescue Services join us to raise awareness about cancer prevention and early detection during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Lund says they want to spread the message that mammograms save lives. Women can reduce fear and risk by knowing their bodies and getting screened.
