Windsor city workers have fixed a shrub after officials say vandals shaped it into a giant phallic symbol.
The imposing bush was in Windsor's sculpture garden along the riverfront in the south end.
“We were growing it to form the shape of a caterpillar, but someone went down there and formed it into a phallic shape,” says John Miceli, executive director of parks and facilities.
Miceli says the city was told about the phallic alterations Wednesday afternoon and staff immediately went to fix it.
“We still preserved the branch on the side, instead of making it into a round ball,” says Miceli. “We’re letting it grow and shaping it into a poodle.”
He says the poodle design won’t be noticeable until next spring.
The city spends about $150,000 a year to fix vandalism and graffiti, says Miceli.
“It is quite disturbing the public will damage public property, but we deal with this on a regular basis,” he says.
