A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Windsor's east end Tuesday night.

Police say the victim was a 53-year-old man.

It happened in the 1000 block of Coventry Court, south of Raymond Avenue at 6:40 p.m.

Witnesses say the man was pinned underneath a Dodge Journey.

"They were pulling the person from underneath the car, it's the craziest thing I've ever seen," says Marty Doll, who saw the horrific event unfold.

Doll, who lives across the street from where the accident occurred, said crews had to jack the car up to remove the injured pedestrian from beneath the vehicle.

"They were working on him right away, pumping his chest, they were working on him furiously,” he says.

A light dusting of snow coated the ground in the area, making driving conditions slippery.

Police say the 32-year-old female driver of the Dodge was not injured. At this time no charges have been laid.

The Windsor police accident reconstruction unit attended the scene and are continuing to investigate what happened.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call the Windsor police traffic unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4211.
