After a successful debut in July, Open Streets Windsor is back.

The largest free recreation program in the city's history returns on Sunday, Sept. 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This time it’s appropriately being called Open Streets Part Deux.

The initiative features a designated route that stretches all the way from Sandwich to Ford City. The streets will once again be closed to traffic and open to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to enjoy.

The streets turn into paved parks that allow people to use them for a host of healthy and fun activities like walking, cycling, yoga, dancing, music, fitness and more. It's a free event.

City officials say about 10,000 experienced Open Streets in July.

The Open Streets Windsor route spans approximately eight kilometres and will connect business areas and residential neighbourhoods along Sandwich Street, University Avenue, Aylmer Avenue, Wyandotte Street East and Drouillard Road.

Windsor joins over 100 North American communities participating in the international Open Streets movement.
