Close to 70 grocery stores across the province are selling domestic and imported wine, as well as beer and cider, starting Friday.

Ontario's finance minister, Charles Sousa, made the announcement in Toronto.

The locations include 20 independent grocery stores and 47 stores owned by large grocers.

Loblaws in Leamington and Zehrs in Kingsville are among the new stores selling beer and wine.

Zehrs Manager Rick Postma says they are offering domestic and imported wines as well as craft and domestic beers.

Postma tells CTV Windsor the feedback from customers has been "very positive."

These stores are in addition to the 57 across the province already selling beer and cider. Ultimately, beer and cider will be available in up to 450 grocery stores across Ontario, including 300 that also sell wine, the province says.

Grocers selling beer or wine must have designated sales areas and standard hours of sale, abide by limitations on package size and alcohol content, and follow staffing and social responsibility training requirements.
