Passengers and employees were evacuated from the north terminal of Detroit Metro Airport Monday morning after a suspicious object was found.

The object was discovered at a Transport Security Administration passenger screening checkpoint. TSA notified Airport Authority Police, who moved all passengers and workers a safe distance from the checkpoint as a precaution.

The Explosive Ordinance Detection unit removed the suspicious item from the terminal and transported it to a secure location for further investigation. The TSA screening checkpoint and North Terminal resumed normal operations by 8:20 a.m.

The response was a team effort by TSA, airport police, Federal Bureau of Investigation officers and airline personnel.

The investigation is ongoing.
