Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens is talking about a new partnership with Detroit dealing with autonomous vehicles crossing the border.
Dilkens held a news conference at the border on Friday.
He says they are looking at what new technology is needed in the tunnel to allow smooth crossings.
"What happens with that vehicle when it goes through the tunnel and loses a signal?” says Dilkens. “What happens to that vehicle when it has a signal in Canada, it goes into the United States and loses that signal or changes to a different signal on a U.S. carrier on the Detroit side."
Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca will be in Windsor on Monday to participate in a cross-border autonomous vehicle demonstration.
He will be joined by federal Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Navdeep Bains.
