Construction is about to begin on a brand new manufacturing facility in Harrow.
EnerQuest Services Inc. will generate 55 jobs, adding to a pattern of continued growth in the town.
The company makes electrical power distribution equipment. It is consolidating four of its facilities, including its head office in Kingsville.
As demand for its products grows, EnerQuest is expanding its operations.
“We've hired 28 people in the last five months and we need more floor space," says Bill Parr, president and owner of EnerQuest.
The company is building a 125,000-square foot facility on 14 acres of industrial land in Harrow.
“We've been in nine building,” says Parr. “We have to stop moving and become more efficient, put everything under one roof. This will allow us to expand our bus on the same piece of property."
EnerQuest manufactures electrical houses and the components that populate the inside of them. The company has nine sites in Essex County collecting wind energy.
“The wind turbines that have green paint on them, the energy that flows from them, flows through one of the electrical houses,” says Parr.
The new facility will be built in phases. The first phase, 70,000 square feet, will generate about 35 jobs. Another 20 once the entire facility is complete.
“As we expand and sell off other facilities, we'll be bringing 100 per cent of the operation into Harrow,” says Parr.
The decision to move to Harrow has been more than a year in the making. Essex town councillor Bill Baker says it’s great for the community.
“This will bring interest and when people know there are jobs,” says Baker. “It helps in the housing market. It's all good news.”
The new manufacturing facility is expected to open in about six to eight months.
