Starting Tuesday, Windsorites must put their garbage in hard-sided bins if they want it to be picked up by the city.

The bylaw kicks in July 1st, meaning any garbage bags placed at the curb will no longer be picked up.

The trash cans must have handles, a water-tight lid and a capacity under 125 litres. Otherwise a pail with wheels and capacity over 125 litres can be used.

The move is an attempt to eliminate a food source for animals like rodents and skunks.

More information on the new garbage bylaw is available on the City of Windsor website.
