A new school is set to replace St. Bernard Catholic Elementary School.
A plan to construct the new school to replace the aging St. Bernard was approved by Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board trustees Tuesday evening.
The construction phase of the new school will be done by Wincon Construction Ltd. at a cost of about $7.5 million.
The new facility will be home to students from JK to Grade 6. It will accommodate 400 students, from both the existing St. Bernard site as well as those from St. Jules Catholic Elementary School.
The school board says the new school has already been funded through the Ministry of Education's capital priorities fund.
It's slated to open for the 2017-18 school year. The old school will be demolished after that.
